As a batsman, Flintoff has occasionally been guilty of getting carried away with his own power. He has been caught in the deep on a fair few occasions, but when he is on song — as he was against South Africa last summer — he is a hugely dangerous proposition.
Flintoff is in good company, as the Super Kings’ batting line-up is stacked with huge strikers of the ball. In fact, he could find himself competing with the likes of the former Australia opening batsmen Matthew Hayden, South Africa all-rounder Albie Morkel and — fitness permitting — the New Zealand all-rounder Jacob Oram to see who can launch it the furthest.
If the overseas players are more than a handful, then the Indians aren’t bad either. Chennai’s three top-scorers last year were Suresh Raina, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Parthiv Patel and all of them are more than capable of sending the ball into orbit.
Representing the majestic city of Hyderabad is the IPL Team of Deccan Chargers. The team is owned by the Deccan Chronicle. With the catch line of 'The Unstoppables', the Deccan Chargers is led by its dazzling Ex Australian wicketkeeper batsman and captain of the team Adam Gilchrist. Also included in the squad are star players like V.V.S. Laxman, Herschelle Gibbs, Scott Styris, Andrew Symonds and Chaminda Vaas and upcoming cricketing superstars like young Pragyan Ojha, R.P. Singh, Kalyan Krishna, Jaskarndeep Singh and Sarveesh Kumar.
