Sehwag's aforesaid century is the fastest by an Indian, surpassing Mohammad Azharuddin's 62-ball hundred against New Zealand at Baroda on December 17, 1988.
Sehwag's brilliant knock (60-ball hundred) is now the fastest ever by any batsman in New Zealand. Craig McMillan (NZ) had registered a 67-ball century against Australia at Hamilton on February 20, 2007.
