That solidarity was displayed earlier in the day with the West Indies team taking the field with tape on their left arm hiding the symbol of team sponsors' Digicel as a protest against the West Indies Cricket Board over payments they players claim they are owed for previous series.
Domestic players went on strike as part of the dispute today and further talks are planned before a proposed meeting between the two parties next Tuesday.
"I want to make clear that what happened with the tape is nothing to do with Digicel," said Gayle. "The players have no argument with Digicel, but we wanted to send a statement.
"We support them (the players) in whatever stance they take.
