And while Hilditch admitted the selectors will continue to lighten Ponting's workload, he does not think that necessitates relieving him of the captaincy just yet.
"Leadership issues are things that we always think about but we are really confident that Ricky will be more than capable of getting through to the 2011 World Cup, and I know that is something he would like to do, so I don't see that as being an issue," Hilditch told the Sydney Morning Herald.
Ponting announced earlier this year he would forgo the Indian Premier League to rest ahead of a busy summer schedule when Australia travel to England for the World Twenty20 and Ashes series.
While that move was reflective of a player keen to ensure his availability for Australia's key matches, the Australian selectors have been content to rest him in important matches.
